Instructions for Sending a Sample
Attention to organizations that send samples using their own couriers!
- Our laboratory’s large transport bags are designed to ensure that samples are delivered to us in the most appropriate and safe manner.
- To ensure that samples arrive at our facility at the proper temperature, at least two frozen ice packs must be placed inside large transport bags. One ice pack is sufficient for small transport bags.
- After registering the patient on www.izmiregelab.com, affix the unique barcode you created for that patient to either a plain tube or one of the serology tubes designated for serum. Be sure to affix labels bearing the patient’s first and last name and the name of the referring institution to the other tubes.
- After completing the registration process through the integration system, please make sure that patient information is available in all tubes.
- Make sure the straight tubes are *centrifuged* before shipping.
- Place the samples in large transport bags *in an upright position*, arranged in rows, and *make sure that the lids of all tubes, containers, and swab sticks are closed*.
- Be sure the bag is closed; be sure to check the zippers. Ensure that the sample reaches our laboratory within 2 hours after it is collected.
